Tsukiji Fish Market for Breakfast

On the following day, I made plans to bring Pooh for a special treat. Sushi breakfast by the fish market! Mr Yoneyama showed us around the market the day before, so we have a rough idea on where the food places were. I read online that there will be fish auction every morning where the buyer will bid for the best catch of the day. A section is open for the public to watch the auction.

Both me and Pooh are more interested with the food rather than the auction. The famous sushi restaurant in the fish market is Sushi Dai. We walked pass through the restaurant the day before. But we enter the market through another exit, hence we are unable to find the famous restaurant. We walked around and couldn’t find the place. Pooh was quite hungry at that time, hence we choose the most decent restaurant at that time.

Before that, we saw a long queue on one of the stall. Curios, I joined the queue and realized that the stall is selling omelet.

There are a few type of omelet to choose from. Each of the long omelet cost above 600 yen each. Omelet in Japan must be pretty famous eh. Anyway, we bought the plain smaller portion, 100 yen each. The queue moved pretty fast and before I could guess which is the most expensive omelet, it was my turn to order the hot omelet.

Tadahhh.. Although look simple, but let me assure you that this is the softest omelet that I have tasted. Simply soft and yummy. Served piping hot but due to the cold weather, it is just warm to us. We gulped down the whole omelet in less than 1 minute on the road side. After that, we walked around to look for a restaurant for breakfast.

Our choice of the day is…..

Sushi Zanmai. Hahahaha. It is not related to the Zanmais that we have in Malaysia, I guess.

The interior has nothing in common with the Sushi Zanmai in KL. This is my first time sitting at the sushi counter. There are a lot of sushi chefs behind the counter that are very busy preparing the yummy sushi for the customer.

Calvin’s breakfast set. Hahaha. According to him, the sushi are very fresh. The fish meat given is very long as well. More fish meat taste than rice. When he dipped the sushi into the soya sauce, the sushi will not break/separate from it’s original shape.

As for me, I ordered the tempura set, chawan mushi and miso soup. I love the small clam miso soup. More like seafood soup than miso soup. The tempura is nothing to shout about though.

We wanted to order rice to go with the tempura set but we have no matter how many times of “rice” the chef couldn’t understand as well. Finally, Calvin pointed to the rice on his sushi and said “rice.. one bowl”. When the chef finally understood us, we were relieved.

But, when the bowl of rice arrived, it turned out to be a bowl of sushi rice… Hahaha. As in added with vinegar and sticky type. Although not the perfect match with the tempura, but better than nothing right??

Wonderful blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I'm hoping to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like Wordpress
or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there
that I'm completely confused .. Any recommendations? Thank you!
