Another bad food

Hi people. Sorry for the absence. It’s really hard to keep to my new year resolution of one week 3 entries. Have been really busy and away from home most of the time lately. I went to Penang with Calvin over the weekend and it was absolutely fun, fun, fun and fun.

There’s a new folder in my “No Good” photo album.

006

This is really near to the McD opposite Taylor’s college. Read something about the food in this restaurant from another blog and decided to give it a try.

007

I forgot what noodle this is but it’s just plain beehon with deep fried onion, some vege, meatballs and minced pork. This has to be the least yucky food for the dinner.

009

Hakka Char Yuk. Some sort of really salty pork meat stew, I guess. Really really salty. Don’t like it at all.

010

This is the famous noodle that the blog mentioned. Seriously, it’s damn yucky. Half prawn with vee and fishballs. The soup tasted like some sort of water after you wash prawn with it. It’s not fresh. This bloody yucky bowl of noodle is RM18. Really expensive. I rather spend it on Greenview. Haihh.

008

Me looking very unhappy with the food. Check out the super grumpy face.

Overall, I don’t think I will visit the restaurant again. NEVER!!

Let’s talk about good food, shall we? Hehe. Visited Marche with Calvin for dinner the other day. The restaurant changed a lot. It’s quite pretty now compared to my last visit. But I still prefer the one in Singapore because it’s really big in there.

016

Our drinks. His fresh coconut and my honey dew juice without ice. Really good. check out the cute cow behind our drinks. Hehe.

017

His grilled salmon. It’s a little dry but then the home made lemon tartar sauce went really well with the fish. Yummy :)

018

My sirloin steak. It was okay, just a little bit tough for us. But the mashed potato was really smooth and creamy. We likey :)

020

This has to be, by far, the best mushroom soup there is. Really good and love the taste of mushroom chunk on every spoonful of the soup.

021

We shared this Turkey ham rosti and it’s really good served together with spring onion, raw onion and tomato sauce. Love the strips of potatoes very much. Nice!!

019

View from our seats. Really look like a market in there. The staffs are really friendly and polite. We’re too full for desserts that day but definitely will try their dessert the next time. Those cakes look really good :)

That’s all for the food for last week. I guess the next post will be about the Penang and my favourite Char Koay Teow for the whole journey :)

Reunion of Calvin with his tuition teacher

Hi all. This is the first week after my glasses. I only put it on when I’m driving because I can see very clearly in the office. Just that I can’t see things from far. Furthermore, every time I put the glasses on, I have this churning feeling in my stomach like a washing machine. This awful feeling is enough to make me vomit. Uggghhhh….. I guess it pays to be a nerd. Hahaha.

Visited this Thai Restaurant at Taman Segar last week. If I’m not mistaken it used to be at Taman Muda food court. Due to lousy business, they moved to some other place.

009

Our drinks. His honeydew juice (as always) with my guava and sour lime juice. My drink was really thirst quenching. Tasted really good cause I requested for additional ice cubes. Even Calvin loves my drink okay :p

010

Our seafood tomyam. The soup is really really good. It has squid, prawns, crab (not fresh, no flesh) and tomatoes with my favourite abalone mushroom. The soup is just sour and spicy enough. Me like :)

011 Green vege. Forgot the name but it’s quite good. I mean what do you expect from a normal garlic fried green vege….

012 The big fish that the cook gave us. We nearly cannot finish everything. The fish was really huge. Thai style steamed, I think. I initially wanted another type of sauce/soup but I ordered the wrong one. Well, I guess there will be another time. Hehe.

Overall, the restaurant served quite decent Thai food. It’s hard to go wrong with Thai food. Haha. It’s nearly full and we visited the place on a weekday. Will be there again for my real favourite thai fish :)

Ohhh, Calvin met his long lost tuition teacher the other day.

 14

And they took a photo together.

Okay okay… that’s me in glasses. Laugh all you want. When I look at myself in the mirror, I laughed as well cause I really look like a tuition teacher. I don’t know why not school or college teacher. I guess tuition teachers look more nerdy than others. HAHAHAHA.

Four eye nerd is me :(

Hey people. I’m transformed into a 4 eye nerd approximately 2 hours ago :( Everything is so clear now, it’s looking really weird for me. Too clear. I’m feeling really uncomfortable. But seeing Calvin really patient and caring for me, I will give this spectacle 1 week probation. If by the end of 1 week, I still feel like shit, I really won’t wear it that much unless I’m driving. Calvin is really really nice and patient with me. He really understands what I’m feeling right now and did everything he could to assure me that it’s okay and he will always be there no matter what. His patience level is amazing. Luv ya :)

Enough about the emo part, let’s talk about food. Saw this review about Resto Surabaya at Sunway from The Star online the other day and suggested that place for dinner to Calvin for dinner. As usual, he seldom says no. With the help of Min Min (will be introduced soon), we reached this place before it starts to get dark.

003

004

005

006

Menus of the restaurant. Frankly speaking, the drinks menu is very little. But then it’s really colourful. Haha. The choices of food isn’t that much but I have never try any of them before. So I kind of studied the menu for quite some time that day before deciding on what to order.

012

Our drinks. From the colour, the pink one will definitely be mine. It is actually watermelon, strawberry and tomato drink. Really nice and refreshing. Even Calvin who don’t really like tomato commented that the drink is nice. I absolutely hate his drink. It’s this really thick avocado juice. Should be really healthy I guess. But it’s really thick, felt like drinking phlegm. Ewwwww….

011

Ayam Goreng Lova. One of the restaurant specialty. Fried chicken with really soft meat. The 2 fried thing on the side is tauhu and don’t-know-what. The don’t-know-what is really awful. Haha.

013

Garlic kangkung. Not bad. Way better than my expectation. Calvin loves vegetables now :)

014

Any idea what this is???

015

Ikan Bakar Milenium. It’s over cooked, kind of burnt actually. It’s a bit bitter. The sauce is really sweet. Don’t really like this fish.

Overall, the restaurant is not bad. Interested in their Ayam Penyet and Sup Buntut Bakar. Sounds really funny. Haha. Buttock soup. Kah kah kah kah kah :)

002

001

Visited Kiku Zakura with Calvin the other day. Their menu changed, food portion is smaller and price increased a little bit (I think). My chicken teriyaki is basically a really thin slice of chicken fillet. Sauce is still the same though. His Unagi don was really sad case. They gave us very little rice and the unagi is stale. I prefer the one at Tomoe better. More yummy with the same price as this place. No more Kiku Zakura for a really really long time :p

016 (2)

 018 (2)

019 (2)

Wanted to blog about this place but I forgot the name and I can’t search it online. It’s a cafe just opposite the Connaught Pet Hospital (slope area). I ordered sliced pork set steamboat while he had butter milk chicken. He loves food cook in butter milk. Haha. Anyway, my steamboat is really yummy. May look small but it’s actually quite filling. I shared my food with Calvin. We saw Danny Wen at the entrance of the cafe. He looked way better in real life than on TV. Serious!!!

I think that’s all. I better get used to my new spectacles so that I could upgrade to contact lens as soon as possible. Colour or non-colour? Hmmm….

Cafe Cafe

Hi people :) How’s your Monday? My working Monday seems to be ultra long with speedy lunch time. Haha. Really looking forward for the end of the month. Holiday, holiday and holiday :)

Visited Cafe Cafe with Calvin on Saturday night for our Valentine’s Day dinner. Yes, I know it might be a little late to have that dinner. But hey, what happens to “Everday is a valentine’s day. It doesn’t have to be on the 14th of February to celebrate your love with someone you love” phrase? February has to be one of the most hectic week for me so far. So much happened in such a short period of time.

Anyway, this restaurant was suggested by Calvin. Am looking forward for this dinner as both of us planned to dress up really nicely and formally to celebrate our first Valentine’s dinner. When I first entered the restaurant, I must say the waiter that served us don’t smell too nice. It’s not the BO smell. I think he applied some kind of oil. After some time, we were too busy ooh-ing and ahh-ing about the restaurant that we totally forgot about the smell. It’s quite dim in the restaurant. Each table was lit by a candle in the middle. My favourite part of the whole restaurant is actually this…

006

You can’t actually see it very clearly in this photo. The ceiling is filled by crystal in various shape. From shell to star shape. It’s really breath taking. Feels like dining under the stars. It’s the most beautiful sight ever. But I can’t be staring the ceiling throughout the dinner as the the most amazing guy is just sitting right in front of me (he even make table reservation to make sure we have our own table…. sweet right?? I didn’t even know that he made table reservation okay…).

The menu is totally out of the ordinary. Unlike the famous-good-old western restaurant like The Ship, Victoria Station etc. the variety of food is not much but most of them are not available at other places. They even have dinner set (without drinks). Since it’s our first time, both of us ordered 2 different dinner set so that we can try a few types of food :)

002

003

Apparently pink lemonade is not pink in colour :( booohooooo. I have to admit the main reason I ordered the drink is because of the word pink itself. Haha. It was really sour on the first sip but tasted much better later on. His sparkling apple juice is quite good too.

004

Pardon the blur bun photo. As I said it’s quite dark, so my hand has to be very still at Night Mode photo. My most embarrassing moment of the night will be the bread flew off my table and landed on the floor really loud. Damn embarrassing weh. Why Calvin has such a kampung girl gf one… tsk tsk tsk. I don’t even know where to hide my face. Can’t really blame me because the outer layer of the bread is really hard. I thought the inner layer will be hard as well but then it turns out to be quite soft. The kind waiter gave me a new bun and I shyly thanked him *shy shy*.

005

This is a chef specialty drink that’s on our dinner set. It’s actually cucumber juice with little bit of salt, I assume. Really appetizing.

007

Our table is really near the window. Damn romantic right my bf. Don’t jealous please :p

008

I bet most of you have no idea what this is. It’s actually half dozen of escargot in olive oil, if I’m not mistaken. It’s really fresh. At least there’s no shell and you don’t have to worry about the shells being recycled :p The escargots are quite fresh. The kampung girl me told the romantic bf “I can taste the aquarium water in my escargot”. Haihhh… terrible la…..

009

Our mushroom soup. Yummy as well.

010

My lamb shank with potato puree. Really good. The lamb was cooked until just right. Meat was really soft and the fat really melts in the mouth. OMG. But after a few bite, I exchange with the romantic bf because his chicken breast was super uber ultra good.

011

Pardon the blur photo again because of the shaky hands. This has to be the juiciest chicken breast ever. I have no idea how the chef prepared this but even the romantic bf love it. Not many guy love chicken breast okay. Notice the pale brown thing on the right? The kampung girl said it’s foie gras (because I saw it on the menu and certain dish has it in the sauce). The romantic bf kept on saying that it’s actually just potato. After 2 or 3 more bite of the so called foie gras, the kampung girl finally realised that it’s actually potato. Hahahaha.

015

016

Is there anything called pre-dessert? We have these two before our dessert which is after our main course. I had lemon sorbet and he ordered cheese something. Lemon sorbet, from it’s name, is quite sour. His cheese thingy tasted super weird. Maybe we don’t know how to appreciate cheese served this way.

017

This is, by far, the most delicious dessert for both the kampung girl and romantic bf. It has replaces pavlova and mille crepe in my heart okay. It’s actually something like chocolate pie where the chocolate instantly melts in your mouth. It is served warm. REALLY REALLY GOOD!!! Even my tummy is really full and I’m on diet (blehhh :p) but I can’t resist on finishing the whole slice. Really super nice.

RIMG0030_filtered

Us after the dinner. Notice my big small eyes? I have this eye infection on the front corner of my right eye. Really painful okay. Hence, I looked like that. I know, I spoilt the photograph with that eye. I should have sit inside. But then it’s okay. The romantic bf still love me a lot. Haha. Don’t jealous :p

With the food service (each dish was served one after another with the waiting time less than 10 minutes and the waiter clears your plate once you’re finish to make space for the next dish), great ambience and the perfect date, the dinner came with a quite expensive bill. But the romantic bf assured me it’s a once in a while indulgence, so it’s okay. Seriously, it’s really worth it. It’s really like once in a lifetime experience for a kampung girl like me who made a bun flew. Thank you so much dear. *hugzzz*

Both of us left the restaurant

013

with smiling face and a sweet memory of our first Valentine’s Day celebration. Thank you for everything, Calvin :) Really appreciate your effort on planning this dinner.

Perfect name for a Thai Restaurant

Hey all. First of all, I have to say that this is the most blur week for me. The day before yesterday, I left my car keys in my locker and my sis gave me death stare. Yesterday, I left my wallet in the locker and thought that someone took my wallet from my bag when I was not aware. I even told Calvin “I’m very sure I put my wallet inside the bag before I leave the office”. Mana tau the wallet was sitting nicely in the locker when I went back to the office later on. Haihhhhh blur chicken or what.

Visited Mr Tom Yam at Giza Mall for lunch with Calvin. It’s really near his office. Since it’s my off day, I researched the whole morning on what and where to eat nearby his office and wanted to try something that he never try before. Mad About Pizza and Entranz were closed (or close for good) on that day, so we drove around Dataran Sunway and he suggested to check out the restaurants at Giza Mall. That mall is still very new. Only the supermarket and a few restaurants are open for business. Picked Mr Tom Yam cause I love Thai food (simple and straight forward reason :p).

I found the name really nice and easy to remember. From the name, we know that it’s Thai food. No need to browse through the menu or peek on what other people is eating. And when you have your mind set for Thai food, tom yam is a must. No Thai food is complete (for me) without tom yam. Yummy~~

004

The menu. I think the drinks  are really expensive. Apparently Thai tea is like milk tea. I was expecting something like chinese tea but tastes a little bit different.

005

Thai Tea Model of Year 2010 is Calvin Ng. Haha. Mr Tom Yam version of Thai tea is actually milk tea with honey instead of sugar. Tasted kind of funny but it’s really sweet till he can’t finish it.

008

When the food arrived, I started to swallow eat gracefully. Haha. I’m very hungry at that time. I don’t care if he took ugly photos of me eating. All I want to do is satisfy my hungry stomach. Haha.

006

My Belacan Fried Rice. It’s really nice. The taste is just nice. Not spicy, no worries. But the egg looks ….. berkedut-kedut. Haha.

007

The seafood tom yum. The soup is really nice. It may not look nice but the sour and spicy level is just right. It contains prawns, fish and squid. Me likey :)

010

The huge Pineapple Fried rice. I would choose my Belacan Fried Rice over this because the pineapple fried rice is really sweet. Really really sweet.

009

Pandan Chicken that I absolutely love. It’s real chicken meat, not the minced and mixed with spices type. Just chicken, a little seasoning and wrap with pandan leaf. My type of pandan chicken. The sweet and sour sauce was not bad as well.

011

Our dessert. Red ruby water chestnut in coconut milk. The sweetest thing in this dessert has to be the jackfruit. It’s like super ultra sweet. I’m not a fan of water chest nut but I kind of like this combination (Calvin Ng, stop influencing me).

That’s what we had at the restaurant. Would visit that place again in the future for other food like steam fish in lime and chilli. Yummy. This place is air conditioned, so the heat and sweat might not be a major problem.

There is one thing about this Giza mall that amazes me.

012

Their ceiling fan is really really REALLY big. But this place is quite windy most of the time. Perfect place to hang out and gossip at night if they have pubs/bistros/cafes. Shall venture into big fan land in the future for more food, food and food :)
